According to the latest report from the Australian Automobile Association (AA), one-third of all new car sales in Australia take place in Queensland, New South Wales, and Western Australia. These states are the top four auto markets in the world, selling a combined total of 1.3 million vehicles last year. The figures of Australia Vehicle Sale Trends from these states are also interesting for buyers. While these numbers may seem low, they can give you a better idea of the types of cars that are selling.

If the number of cars sold in Australia were fifty per cent of its population, then that would make it the most car-rich country in the world. But in reality, Australia's vehicle sales are down. In fact, according to the ABS, there are only seven hundred and seventy-five motor vehicles sold per thousand people. So, while the average age of Australian cars is still growing, the percentage of new cars sold each year in the country has dropped.
The data for the ABS comes from the Department of Statistics. In the past, vehicle sales in Australia have declined. As a result, the country has fewer cars per person than most other countries in the world. This trend is particularly problematic in the booming New South Wales, where the population is approximately nine times higher than in other countries. However, in the future, it is estimated that Australia will reach one million cars a year.
